Shared parenting
Parenting can sometimes be stressful, but when you are doing this in a ‘shared’ way it can sometimes cause additional pressure and stress. Ensuring that you keep the child / children in mind in all your discussions and decision making is essential.
You may find the tips below helpful:
- Effective communication. Don’t use your children as go-betweens or cause them additional stress by relying on them to be the messenger.
- Plan for events in advance.
- Be generous.
- Never ask your children to choose.
- Have realistic expectations.
- Be respectful.
- Do what’s fair.
- Be willing to compromise.
