
Community Paediatric Service
We are the provider for the NHS children’s community Paediatrics service in West Essex which includes Children registered with a GP Practice in Harlow, Epping and Uttlesford District.
Who we are
The Community Paediatric Team are a dedicated group of doctors who have specific expertise in assessing, managing, and supporting children and young people with neurodisability or concerns about their development, social communication or behaviour. We work closely with other professionals in a multidisciplinary approach.
In some cases we may assess and refer on to another organisation for management.

We complete reports for statutory assessments, such as Initial Health Assessments for Looked After Children/Children in Care and health advice for EHCP applications for children with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
What we do not do
We don’t assess for educational conditions such as dyslexia, dyscalculia (please speak to the school SENCO for advice)
We do not assess or treat emotional wellbeing or mental health difficulties, such as anxiety, depression or anger management (please consider a referral to the CAMHS team)
We do not offer a sleep service, although we do support children with sleep difficulties who also have a diagnosis of ASD or ADHD
We do not manage constipation/enuresis (please consider a referral to the Continence Team/Hospital Paediatrician/Urology Team as appropriate)

Referrals to the Community Paediatric service can be only made by Health Professionals. Please speak with your GP if you have concerns or require support.
