Have a welfare concern about a child?
Safeguarding Children is the term used to describe everyone’s responsibility to keep children and young people safe from significant harm.
This may include child protection, but includes activities around the prevention of harm to health, emotional wellbeing and development – ensuring children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care.
Children can be at risk physically, emotionally, sexually and through neglect.

The Essex safeguarding teams incorporate the principles of child safeguarding in everything we do, working in close alignment with other professional agencies to protect children and young people.
Where child protection/safeguarding concerns exist, we will engage with the Essex Children and Families Hub. The Hub works with local authorities to safeguard children and young people.
