Essex health visitor recognised for her achievements

A local Essex health visitor has received an award for giving her own time to support families in need.

Joyce Wells, a health visitor for the Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service, jointly won the ‘Heartfelt Service’ honour at Virgin Care’s first Feel the Difference Awards for colleagues who have delivered great care and improved the experience of service users.

Joyce was recognised for giving her own time to source and provide food and additional support for the families she works with alongside Julie Taylor who runs St Peter’s Hospital Café.

She said: “I think all my team will be very excited to see me getting an award. It just shows that if you work hard you can get rewarded.”

More than 50 colleagues and their guests recently attended the award ceremony at Pinewood Studios, west of London, after being selected from hundreds of peer nominations for going above and beyond in 2017.

Colleagues received a message from Richard Branson before Executive Team members presented a number of special values awards to some outstanding individuals and teams.

The glamorous spy-themed evening included entertainment from the Bodyguard dance group, a Daniel Craig lookalike, fun casino and disco.

Stuart Rennison-Price, Director of People and Service at Virgin Care, said: “It was a very special evening and a great pleasure to recognise colleagues from right across the organisation for going above and beyond to make a genuine difference to people’s lives.

“I am extremely proud of what all of our colleagues do every day, often in challenging circumstances, and it is very important that we celebrate their achievements. So I am looking forward to many more Feel the Difference Awards events in the future.”

Every month Virgin Care celebrates colleagues who’ve really stood out for delivering great care. Members of the public can now vote for Virgin Care colleagues who they think deserve to be an award winner and can make a Feel the Difference Award nomination at any time online:
